But the young boy proved a more than replacement to a midwife, when he not only contributed to the birth of his baby brother, but also saved his life.
After comforting her through the birth he brought towels to wrap the baby and jumped into action when Harley Jae was not breathing and untangled the umbilical cord around his neck while his mother revived him.
Mrs. Graves has called her eldest son her "little superhero" for his bravery and quick thinking under pressure.
The 28-year-old from Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, said: "I really think Joby helped save the life of Harley. If he had not unlooped the cord around his neck, I would have to try to do it on my own and would have lost valuable time.
'Harley was choking and Joby knew exactly what to do. I am very proud of him, he was so quiet and serene. It was absolutely fantastic and I totally underestimated him.
Kelly described how throughout her pregnancy, Joby was excited to meet his new brother or sister so it was no surprise that he was very helpful when it came time for him to deliver his new brother.
