|Wedding lost 50 years ago found in car seat|
Steve Callahan had been looking for his missing cell phone in his car and was shocked to find a 14 karat, white gold and diamond wedding ring in between the seats of his newly purchased Pontiac Grand Am. He and his wife Shannon, model good Samaritans decided to locate the owner of the ring and return it.
The Callahans knew that one of the former owners of their car was from El Paso, Texas and that it was originally from Crawford Auto Plaza. They called the dealership which promised to call back and waited for the return call for two weeks.
They were extremely annoyed and Shannon decided to try to use a different method. She called El Paso DMV and was told that they were unable to release private information because of privacy laws.
They suggested that she contact the media to locate the owner of the ring.
Shannon retold her story to the El Paso Times hoping that the owner would read the article and contact her. Crawford Auto finally traced the car back to the Kings in Sacramento.
The Callahans promptly returned the ring to emotional 78 year old Darlene King who told them that it was her late husband’s ring. “These nice people found it. I just wish my husband were alive. I guess I’m going to give it to my son. It’ll be a gift from his father.”
With the help of helpful citizens, King’s 50 year old ring was returned.
