A sick mother was jailed after hunting down her own teen son on Facebook to have sex with him.

The Northern California mother is accused of having sex with her teen son. She was distanced from the boy most of her life when she found him on Facebook last year, a police source told the news media.

"It seems that she had not had any contact with her son for 15 years, who is now 16 years old," the source told the news media.

"She contacted him late last year through Facebook and sent him inappropriate messages," said the source.

Police in Napa, California, were serving her a search warrant, when they found Mistie Atkinson, 32, and her son in a hotel room, authorities said.

She was arrested and charged with four felony counts, including incest, oral copulation with a minor and contacting a minor for sex using electronic communication.

The fourth charge is sending nude photos to the teen, a prosecution source told the news media.

Atkinson has pleaded not guilty and faces up to five years in prison if convicted.

Napa police said in a court filing that the videos taken from Atkinson's phone shows the teen allegedly having oral sex and intercourse with the woman, the news media reported.

"Atkinson and the victim are aware that they are biologically mother and child," police said in an affidavit.

Atkinson has a history of contact with the police, including domestic violence in Nice, California, where she shares a home with her boyfriend, police said.

She was arrested for domestic assault, police said.

"That looks like the beginning of her spiral," said the police source, linking the arrest to her search for the teen.

The boy's father, who has full custody, has obtained a restraining order against Atkinson, the news media reported.
