Woman tries to kill her son because she can’t afford to feed him

17-year-old boy was sleeping in his room when his mother came in and hit him over the head with a baseball bat, striking him repeatedly, then she stabbed him numerous times with a knife.

The son managed to escape the attack. He ran outside screaming for help. John Burroughs was outside as the 17-year-old boy approached him screaming, "Hey mister! Could you help? My momma is trying to kill me!"

Burroughs dialed 911, then he saw the boy's mother running out of the house armed with a butcher knife.
Roselva, was arrested and is facing child cruelty charges.

When officers got to the home, they found Roselva sitting outside with the knife next to her, police said. Roselva told the officers: "I wanted to kill my son because I cannot take care of him and I don’t want him to suffer."

The teen, was treated at Plantation General Hospital he suffered cuts and bruises to the back of his head. Broward Circuit Judge John Hurley set Roselva's bond at $50,000. Judge Hurley ordered that if Roselva posts bond, she should be monitored with a GPS device, and the judge told her to have no contact with her son.
