Shanyna Isom, 28, suffered an allergic reaction, three years ago that caused a debilitating syndrome that has left her struggling to walk and perform daily tasks.
The college student was crusted with something that was hard as nails which replaced the hair on her body and doctors are still in the dark about how to cure the mysterious illness of Shanyna.

Shanyna Isom lives with her family in Memphis, Tennessee and was in her first year in college when the nightmare began. She was prescribed steroids after suffering an asthma attack and within hours the law student was "itching" all over her body.

Soon after black spots covered her legs and doctors treated her for everything from eczema to staphylococcal infection, in vain. Shanyna became bedridden as the disease took over and doctors tried to determine what the problem was.

Started treatment in Baltimore, Maryland where doctors established that the growth were human nails gradually covering the body of Shanyna.

She produces 12 times the normal number of skin cells per hair follicle, suffocating her skin. Where she is supposed to grow hair, she grows nails," a doctor told the news media.
