Instead of the man shooting the animal the animal shot the man.

The Blue Gascony Basset Hound Dog pulled the trigger of his owner’s gun after jumping up while his hunting owner was participating in a hunting session of deer. The bullet tore off part of the right hand of the hunter who has been amputated.

The victim blamed himself for not applying the safety latch and does not blame his dog at all. "It was not the dog's fault, and he's adorable!" he told a local news radio station.

The 55-year-old victim, who gave his name as Rene, was taken to a hospital by air ambulance. The victim said the dog, which was the youngest of three came out for the hunt and was new to the sport, had stayed with his master, while the other two dogs were chasing a deer.

Rene said that the animal had "jumped on me to give me a hug, I think."
"As he jumped, he put a paw on the gun trigger," Rene said.
