|Metal rod breaks during stunt|
(Scroll down for video) Stuntmen take pride in doing the most dangerous stunts. Every stunt man tries to come up with more outrageous stunts in order to achieve international fame.
Their goal is to outdo others. For them, the more heart stopping the stunt the better.
BASE jumper Richard Henriksen was being recorded by a TV show in Norway, while performing his stunt on a gymnast's bar on the edge of a sheer cliff. The stunt went very wrong. The metal bar suddenly collapsed, sending him flying over the edge, as onlookers watch in horror.
In the video below you can see Henriksen doing somersaults around the metal bar before the accident happened. Amazingly Henriksen survived. After flying over the edge of cliff head-first, he narrowly missed falling head first against a rock. He managed to open his parachute on the way down.
“Everyone watching let out a huge gasp,” TV presenter Are Sende Osen, who was recording the stunt for the NRK TV network said. The BASE jumper Henriksen, a father-of-five said: “I sat with the two youngest children, reading and singing to them. Then it dawned on me that my children could have been without a dad."
After watching him fall over the cliff everyone was relieved when they saw Henriksen alive and well.
