A woman was arrested after beating her little son with a baseball bat for staying outside too long, according to reports in a local newspaper.

The 30-year-old Tolleson woman has been charged for hitting her son in the arm with a baseball bat, as social workers removed the child from her home.

Police responded to P.H. Gonzales Elementary School to investigate a child abuse complaint.

The assistant principal told police that an 8th grade student advised her that his mother hit him on the arm causing a bruise, according to court documents.

The child had a bruise on his arm that seemed to be fading. During an interview with police, the boy's mother, Adelina Bonfiglio Ochoa, admitted hitting him in the arm with a baseball bat because she was upset with him “for being out all day and did not inform her of his whereabouts."

Ochoa faces a charge of child abuse.
