(Scroll down for video) A man and a woman were having some fun making out in the back of a taxi until they were suddenly arrested and charged by police, according to press reports.
Now, a Dubai court has sentenced a man from Ireland and a British woman to three months in prison for an intimate rendezvous in the back of a taxi.
The ruling is the latest clash of cultures between the Western social codes in the United Arab Emirates, which maintains strict laws on gender-related issues in accordance with sharia, although often police turn a blind eye to some transgressions by tourists.
Prosecutors accused the couple of removing some clothing and fondling each other in a taxi.
Recruitment worker Rebecca Blake, 29, from Dorking, Surrey, and Irish welder Conor McRedmond, 28, denied the charges and accused the driver of making up the story after a fee dispute.
The judge said that the couple will be deported after serving their sentences, which they can appeal.
In 2008, a British couple was sentenced to three months jail after being accused of having sex on a Dubai beach.
