He did the most disgusting thing, but luckily he was quickly caught.

We used to hear stories of how news can travel fast on the Internet.

However, we rarely see how effective it can be in tracking down suspects, who would otherwise remain anonymous.

When an employee of Burger King posted photos of himself stepping into boxes of lettuce, it offended fans of the fast food company and it took only 15 minutes to expose the suspect.

The image was subtitled with the words: "This is the lettuce they eat at Burger King." The image was posted on the bulletin board 4chan.

However, users of 4chan were so appalled by the actions of the man they took the GPS data included in the image and found out where it was taken.

Once the local news station was contacted it was only a matter of time before the suspect was found.

4chan users participating in the hunt for the man expressed their disgust on the site.
"Enjoy being fired," said one.

"I just spoke by phone with the manager," said a user that called the franchise after tracking down the location of the branch.
Their actions were applauded as well. Another website, Reddit, made a montage of messages in the celebration of the detective work of users.

The alleged perpetrator was a long-term employee of the Mayfield Heights branch of the fast food restaurant in Cleveland, Ohio.
The man was fired along with the shift manager, who was on duty at the time.
