Many people are wondering why this criminal was still allowed to be on the street.

A registered sex offender from Brooklyn, New York, has been arrested after he groped a woman from New Jersey, aboard a New Jersey train, twice, The Port Authority Police said.

Gian Verdelli, 61, was arrested Monday in Jersey City, New Jersey, by undercover agents, who identified him through a cell phone photo that the 28-year-old woman took of the alleged assailant after an incident on July 3. She said the same man had also groped her on June 30.

The serial molester strikes on crowded trains during rush hour by pressing his body against other passengers and sexually abusing young women, authorities said.

Verdelli is charged with two counts of criminal sexual conduct, possession of marijuana paraphernalia and drugs.

Verdelli had 168 prior arrests, most of which were for sexual offenses, authorities said.
The arrest caused many women, who ride the New Jersey train, to be concerned and outraged.

"There should be laws that keep people like that in prison a little longer," said a traveler.
Another woman said she is always alert during her trip and walks away if she sees someone suspicious.

Verdelli is now being held without bail.
