A small town was awakened by a sudden strong explosion.
New York State Police said that a 12-year-old girl died and six others were injured on Tuesday morning after a house near Buffalo, exploded.
The blast occurred on Tuesday morning in a house in the rural Niagara County town of Wilson, on Lake Ontario, 30 miles north of Buffalo.
A total of six people were injured and firefighters are searching the rubble of the house for the body of the girl, who is still missing.
Two medical helicopters and several fire departments responded to the explosion, which occurred around 6:15 in the morning. Police are treating the home as an active crime scene.
Images posted on websites show smoking debris where the house once stood. Neighbors said they felt a jolt and saw a large fireball.
A dispatcher for the Sheriff's Office said there is no more information available at this time.
