A hungry man decided it would be a good snack to eat the bus seat.

The passenger has been caught on video causing 200 pounds worth of damage to a bus, by eating the seat.

An image of a security camera has been released from the unidentified man chewing on a seat on bus number 12, in the Torbay area in Devon, United Kingdom.

The man, who has dark hair and is solidly built, was on the bus for about 20 minutes before starting to eat the seat.

Gary Blee of the Torbay Police, said: "The male offender was on bus number 12 in Paignton and has chewed up the seat he was sitting in, causing about 200 pounds of damage."

He then proceeded to pick up the seat leather by hand, making the hole even bigger.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

A spokesperson for Stagecoach bus company, said: "This is obviously not a big incident in terms of the amount of damage, but it is rare event. We are cooperating with police and are assisting in their investigations."

Stagecoach Transport now warns its passengers to "Refrain from eating and drinking items that make the atmosphere unpleasant for other customers or cause offense."

The man also was breaking the rule that passengers must not "deliberately damage or modify any part of the vehicle.”
