(Scroll down for video) An 80-year-old grandma is being called a hero after she caused two robbers to flee from her son-in-law’s shop.

Otilia Martins was visiting her son-in-law Manuel Nogueira’s store, the Continental Market in New Bedford, Massachusetts, when Eduardo Torres-Lopez, 22, and Jesse DosSantos, 24, entered the store. They looked around, then, they went to the cashier and pointed a gun at Nogueira demanding him to open the cash register.

Martins, who had been shopping, saw what was happening. She saw the robbery in action, so she grabbed mangoes and apples and threw it at the robbers. The man with the gun then ran around the counter and pistol-whipped Martins causing a laceration to her forehead. She did not go down and actually appeared to be following them out of the store.

Her son in law, Nogueira, saw the men run from the store, so he chased them and he managed to catch them two blocks away. He held the robbers down until the police came.

The men were arrested and charged with armed robbery, carrying a dangerous weapon, assault and battery on a person over the age of 60.

Though the robbery was cut short by Martins, they still managed to run off with $500 which was retrieved by police.
