Agnes Allison McNaughtan of Paisley, Scotland, was very happy to have reached her 100th birthday, but sadly, she died just ten minutes into the big day. She passed away at 12:10 am.

McNaughtan had been planning a huge family party to celebrate the landmark occasion.

“We are all saddened by her passing especially since it happened on her big day. She was looking forward to the celebration, it was all she talked about,” said a staff member at the nursing home.

Her family believes that she clung to life just long enough to reach one hundred, since everything was already prepared they decided to hold her birthday party as a mark of respect even though she had already died.

McNaughtan came from a long line of relatives who lived well into their eighties and nineties.

"She was a remarkable woman. She cared for others. She was young at heart and she was in good health. She was an inspiration to many people, and she will be missed by a lot of people," a relative said.
