A woman was desperately trying to get to a bar to have some more drinks.
The Florida woman was arrested on Friday, and was charged with drunken driving on her way to a bar with eight children in her truck. She remained in jail on Tuesday, on $325,000 bond, according to public records.
Lawanda Lowery-Gale is also charged with eight counts of negligence, property damage and driving with a suspended license, jail records of Alachua County show.
Lowery-Gale, 32, told police she was trying to get to a nightclub when she allegedly crashed into another vehicle about 7:50 p.m. on Friday, according to police.
No injuries were reported, but damage from the wreck was estimated at more than $1,000.
The eight children were between 10 months and 14-years-old. Six were Lowery-Gale’s children and the other two were her nieces, the police said.
In a breath test in jail, Lowery-Gale recorded a blood alcohol content of 0.166, more than twice the legal limit of 0.08 in Florida.
