(Scroll down for video) A mother is dead and her daughter is shattered, just moments before the 15-year-old girl was thrilled that her mother allowed her to practice driving in the family car.

The family has just finished church services at the Newport Church of God, in Kentucky. The parking lot was almost empty when 40-year-old Kimberly Riggs, a single mother of two, gave her daughter the keys to the car.

The mother was standing outside the car in the parking lot, as her 15-year-old daughter was in the driver’s seat. The 15-year-old girl mistakenly pressed the accelerator instead of the brakes pinning her mother up against the fence.

The pastor found the mother. "She couldn't speak and she could barely breathe. We were trying to keep her calm, telling her that help was on the way and that we were there with her," the pastor said.

The mother and daughter were rushed to a hospital, but sadly, the mother was pronounced dead and the daughter was left emotionally distraught.

Riggs left behind two daughters and a grandson.
