A terrible bus accident caused many people to suddenly loose their lives.

At least 42 people died when a bus plunged into a gorge in southern Morocco, officials said.
In addition to the dead, more than 20 people are reported to have been injured, some seriously.

The bus, which was traveling between the cities of Marrakech and Zagora, crashed near the city of Zerkten in the Haouz province, local officials said.

Most of the passengers are believed to be from Morocco. It is not clear whether foreigners were among the victims.

The accident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, the official state news agency reported. The cause is not yet known.

At least 24 people were injured he said, and 21 were taken to a hospital in Marrakech. The other three were taken tp a hospital in the nearby city of Ouarzazate.

In July, two separate bus crashes in Morocco killed 26 people. More than 4,000 people died in road accidents in Morocco last year, according to the Ministry of Transport, an increase of 11.6 percent over the previous year.
