A woman suffered a huge financial sting after suffering from a scorpion sting.

The Arizona woman was left wondering what hurts more; being bitten by a scorpion or seeing her hospital bill after the treatment.

Marcie Edmonds said that the bill she received from Chandler Regional Medical Center was over $83,000.00. The bill includes two doses of anti-venom for almost $40,000 per dose.

Her insurer has paid more than $57,000 and the suburban Phoenix hospital is asking Edmonds for the balance of about $25,000.

The Ahwatukee 52-year-old Foothills resident was bitten in June, while opening a box of air conditioning filters she stored in her garage.

Edmonds said that an emergency room doctor told her about the Mexican anti-venom Anascorp that could quickly relieve her symptoms, but was never told about the cost.

Chandler Regional Medical Center said that Edmonds was represented the non-network cost of her treatment.

Now, the woman wants people to know that if you get bitten by a scorpion you will get a massive hospital bill.
