(Scroll down for video) In a new tell-all book, Justin Bieber’s mother revealed her life struggles after she was sexually abused by a her friend's grandfather, who was her babysitter.

“Nowhere But Up,” is the name of the book where Pattie Mallette, 36, revealed how the abuse caused her life to spiral out of control.

Mallette writes about how after the abuse she carried the shame for years, which began when she was just four-years-old.

“By now I have learned that it’s normal for anyone who has been sexually abused to carry that shame and blame, and feel like there's something wrong with you. I definitely carried that,” she said.

Living with shame and guilt led her to drug and alcohol addiction, and a suicide attempt, she confessed.

By the time Mallette was 14-years-old, she was taking drugs and alcohol to deal with the pain. By age 15, she lost her virginity. Two years later, she felt so overwhelmed with pain that she threw herself into the path of an oncoming truck to end her life.

“It was a culmination built up over the years of the abuse and the pain. At the time, I was messed up with drugs and alcohol, and I was in depression,” she said.

At a young age, Mallette fell in love with Jeremy Bieber, who was also from a broken home. At age 17, Mallette found out that she was pregnant. People advised her to abort the baby.

“I just knew I couldn't, I just knew I had to keep him. I didn't know how I was going to do it, but I just knew that I couldn't abort. I had to do my best, and I was determined to do whatever it took,” She said.

When she was 18, Pattie gave birth to a healthy baby boy near her home in London, Ontario. She named him Justin.

Mallette is very happy with her decision to keep baby Justin, as Justin has brought a lot of happiness into her life.
