21-year-old Mateusz Trojanowski of Calgary, Canada, was arrested on assault charges and is accused of touching women’s feet.
“Following a six-month investigation with nine complaints involving eight victims of inappropriate foot touching, Trojanowski was charged with assault for four of the nine incidents. The allegations include licking one of the victim's feet, and there was a sexual motive in the case,” Detective Jim Hands said.
In each case, he approached a middle-aged woman between 45 and 65-years-old, in grocery stores, shopping malls and parking lots.
He expressed interest in the victims' pedicure, asking them questions such as where they had it done, how they chose the color and how much it cost, saying that he wanted to treat his wife to a pedicure.
He had the victims place their feet within touching distance so he can have a closer look at the details of the pedicure, then he touched them inappropriately.
Trojanowski was charged with assault in three of the cases and sexual assault in the fourth.
Hands said he's been a cop for more than 20 years, and it is the first time he investigated such a case.
“Any allegations of assault on citizens are taken seriously by police. We want the city to be safe," the detective said.
