Another violent ax attack incident against children in China, occurred last week, according to police reports.

A man with an ax attacked children in a day care center in southwestern China, killing three children and injuring 13 others.

Police said that the man of the province of Guangxi, raided the school on Friday afternoon, and attacked the children in the center with his ax.

A police officer in Pingnan county where the attack occurred said that the assailant was captured.

China has experienced a series of attacks in schools, nursing homes and in the streets of the city, which have left dozens dead and dozens more wounded since the start of 2010.

The attacks have prompted calls for greater attention to mental illnesses and concern over the increased stress in Chinese society.

The report said that the man suffered from a mental illness.

Studies have also revealed an increased prevalence of mental disorders in the country some of them linked to stress as the pace of life speeds up and wither the socialist support systems.

Authorities said that murder, which carries the death penalty, is still far less common than in most Western countries.
