Two little children were beheaded in Afghanistan last week, according to reports.

A teenage boy and a little girl, have been beheaded in separate incidents in Afghanistan, local authorities and police said last week, in the latest brazen attack that raised new questions about the Taliban.

A 12-year-old was abducted and killed in the southern Kandahar province on Wednesday, with the severed head placed near his body to send a warning to the police, the provincial governor spokesperson Jawid Faisal said.

The boy's brother, none of whom were named by authorities, was a member of the Afghan Local Police, a U.S. trained militia in Taliban strongholds such as Kandahar, which help residents feel safer, Faisal said.

"It is a warning from the Taliban to the police and other supporters of the government," Faisal said about the killings, which occurred in the Panjwai district of Kandahar.

Taliban spokesman Qari Yousuf denied the group was involved.

Moreover, a 6-year-old was beheaded in eastern Kapisa province on Thursday, provincial police Chief Abdul Hamed said.

"We're not sure if she was beheaded by her family or by the Taliban, but we know that the Taliban has control of the area," Hamed said about the killing in the village of Jalukhil. He added that he could not send investigators to the area out of fear for their safety.
