(Scroll down for video) A defendant being sentenced to 15 years jail got angry and punched his attorney in the face, according to reports.

A York County, South Carolina inmate, faces more time behind bars after he sucker punched his lawyer in court in front of rolling cameras.

Authorities said that Lamarcus Williamson had just been sentenced to 15 years in prison in a plea deal when he turned around and beat his attorney with his handcuffed fists.

"I was surprised. I did not see it coming. I hit the ground," attorney Dan Hall said.

Hall said it was only the second time he had worked with Williamson, who was pleading guilty to charges of theft, drugs and assault, and he was just filling in for a colleague.

"Court is a tense, emotional and difficult situation," Hall said.

Court officials said they noticed Williamson getting mad in the moments before he hit Hall.

The court police immediately grabbed Williamson and took him out of the court room.

Hall was not hurt seriously, saying that he suffered from loose teeth and a sore jaw.

"I'm not a good fighter," he said smiling.

The Sheriff's Office of York County charged Williamson with contempt of court, which could add an extra six months to his prison sentence of 15 years.
