Lisa Marie Presley is selling fish and chips from a van, and is loving the British over Californians, according to recent reports.

Elvis Presley's daughter has been selling fish and chips from the back of a van in the quiet English village where she now lives.

It is the latest example of Lisa Marie Presley, 44, and her husband, guitarist Michael Lockwood, a California native, embracing local life since moving to Rotherfield, in southeast England, two years ago.

Her secret fish and chip gig delighted her friends, Kim and Justin Scales, who run the business.
Kim Scales, who also directs a local pub, The Kings Arms, said the singer could not wait to put on an apron to serve people.

She told the local newspaper: "She likes to see how we live and experience it. We laughed because customers did not know it was her. She really enjoyed it. Everything she said she was going to do, she did. It was the funniest thing ever. She did this gig and nobody knew who she was."

In an interview this week, Presley said she preferred her English neighbors over the self-absorbed Californians.

She said: "I lived in the same neighborhood for 17 years, and I did not even know a single neighbor. When I moved here, I was getting notes and flowers, that’s what I like about this. It’s simple, not flash. It was quality of life that I needed."
