Teen kills himself while playing Russian roulette

Teens were playing a dangerous game of Russian roulette when it turned deadly.

A Florida teenager died after shooting himself in the head with a .38 caliber pistol in a game of Russian roulette he was playing with three of his friends.

Thorin Montgomery, 17, took the first turn in this deadly game that also involved three other teenagers aged 16, 18 and 19.

The four teenagers were near the victim's house when the tragedy happened.

Montgomery was rushed to an area hospital where he was in critical condition for several days. He eventually died of the gunshot wound, according to police.

Russian roulette is a game of chance in which a player puts a bullet in the revolver, spins the cylinder, places the muzzle against their head and pulls the trigger.

The game, which originated in Russia, kills about 10 people a year and has appeared in several movies.

Local authorities are investigating the source of the gun.
