Fifteen-year-old Kristoff John was late for school at George Westinghouse Career and Technical Education High School in Brooklyn, New York, when he tried to swipe his card through the security entrance.

When that did not work, the young man tried to push his way through. At that time, he was grabbed by teacher and dean Stephan Hudson, 39. When he tried to run away, the teacher beat him brutally. Now, the teen's mother, Diane John, is suing the city for $5.5 million, according to court documents.

John said she received a call from Hudson during which he claimed to have been attacked by her son. To prevent the teenager from getting into trouble, he was willing to settle things quietly.

Kristoff stands at 5'3 and weighs about 115 pounds. Hudson weighs 300 pounds.

Lawyer Sanford Rubenstein filed a lawsuit against the city on Thursday, that names the Department of Education and Hudson as defendants.

"Stephan Hudson negligently, violently and viciously grabbed Kristoff by the arm, hand and neck, and dragged him across the floor and pushed him several times into a table," according to the lawsuit.
