A gun was found hidden inside of a book in the public library, according to reports.

A reader seeking a little more knowledge at a public library in Indiana, found the gun inside the this week.

Tucked in a recessed space in a book called "Outerbridge Reach," a novel by Robert Stone, was a .31 caliber, single shot, ASM gun marked with a gold handle made from wood.

"Someone just opened up the book and said, 'Oh my,'" Porter County Public Library assistant director Phyllis Nelson said.

Dozens of books are donated to the library every month without registration, so it is not possible to know who brought the book or when it happened, Nelson said.

However, Nelson said he made contact with the local police, who were able to discover that the gun, which will be held as evidence, had not been stolen.

This is not the first time they found a gun inside a book donated to the Valparaiso branch, according to reports.
