A Mega Church pastor was beaten to death with an electric guitar by an unknown man, according to police reports.
A North Texas congregation is reeling after an assailant crashed a car into a wall of the church, chased the pastor down and beat him to death with an electric guitar.
Police told reporters they did not know why the unidentified suspect attacked Rev. Danny Kirk Sr., founding pastor of Greater Sweethome Missionary Baptist Church.
In a heartbreaking 911 call, an unidentified church secretary told officials that the pastor tried to fight, but Kirk was in desperate need of an ambulance.
"My pastor is bleeding, he has been attacked," the secretary told dispatchers while locked in her office. "I'm not going out there. I really need help quickly. Send police. I need an ambulance too.”
“Does your pastor know the attacker?” The dispatcher asked. “I have no idea,” she replied.
The unidentified assailant allegedly drove his car into the wall of the church on purpose just before noon.
He then began attacking Kirk in the parking lot before running after him into the church, according to Police Chief Dan Dennis of Forest Hill.
When police arrived, they found the suspect hitting Kirk with an electric guitar, which they think was in the church.
When police arrived they had to use a Taser to subdue the man, handcuffed him and locked him in their patrol car.
Unfortunately it was too late for Kirk, he had already died.
A maintenance worker who tried to help Kirk, was also injured and taken to an area hospital, but his condition is unknown.
The assailant was found unconscious shortly after his arrest and was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
