Swing set for adults

(Scroll down for video) Adults can once again enjoy the thrill of an old fashion swing with a new twist. Mike O'Toole, Andrew Ratcliff, Ian Charnas, and Andrew Witte, have created a swing set for adults.

This is the way it works. The swing has water circulating through 273 independently controlled valves at the top of the swing set poles to create a wall of water.

First, the water comes from a pool on the ground, then it is pumped up to a large pipe that feeds the valves. Sensors mounted on the swing set gather information about the angle and speed of each person’s swing.

The information is further sent to a computer, with that information, the computer knows the action of the rider and it creates an empty space in the wall of water, allowing the rider to swing through without getting wet.

People get an old-fashioned thrill from swinging and they get the additional thrill by narrowly missing being soaked with water as they swing on the high-tech play structure. "It really gets people back to that childlike feeling," O'Toole said.
