(Scroll down for video) On his deathbed after suffering a massive heart attack, James Washington confessed to killing a woman in 1995.

Doctors thought that he will not recover from the heart attack, but surprisingly, he did.

While on a deathbed, many people have a last wish or message to their family members before passing.

In most cases, it is usually a confession of some secret like hidden treasures, money, or family they did not know about. In the case of James Washington of Nashville, Tennessee, he confessed to killing Joyce Goodener.

Washington was in jail for another crime when he had a heart attack in what he thought was his last days alive, so he confessed to the murder. Washington has been a suspect in the murder all along, but there was not enough evidence to arrest him on murder charges.

While laying on his deathbed after suffering the heart attack, he confessed to the murder. A prison guard testified in court that “Washington wanted to clear his conscience before he died therefore he confessed.”

In the confession, Washington gave a detailed account of what he did to Goodener. He stabbed her in the neck, lit her body on fire and then he hit her with a concrete block.

If not for this confession, Goodener would have gotten away with murder.

After he recovered, Washington tried to recant his confession, but the judge would not hear of it. Now, Washington is facing life in prison.
