A man married his sister-in-law in front of his dead wife, according to reports.

The man who lives in Bihar, married his sister-in-law in the presence of the dead body of his wife, who was in a room of a public hospital autopsy unit.

His late wife committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan on Wednesday.

The incident took place in the city Biharsharif in Nalanda district of Bihar, 80 km south of Patna, which is the capital of Bihar state.

Reports said that Pushpa Kumari, the wife of Sujit Kumar from the Parasdiha village in central Bihar Nalanda district, committed suicide at her in-laws' house on Wednesday. Her body was taken for an autopsy to the local public hospital.

The news of her death reached the victim's parents, who rushed to the hospital and threatened to register a murder case against the in-laws accusing the latter of forcing the woman to end her life.

The parents of the victim, reportedly then asked the family to allow the widow to marry the victim’s younger sister, and the family agreed.

The story took a dramatic turn when the woman’s parents asked the man to marry his sister-in-law at the hospital in front of the dead body.

Soon, a package of vermilion was brought from the market to the hospital as the man married his sister-in-law by applying vermilion to her hair as the body of his wife was laying in the hospital autopsy room apparently as a witness.
