(Scroll down for video) An elderly man collected thousands of bones and has the largest private animal bone collection, according to reports.
For over 50 years, Ray Bandar has been collecting animal bones. The 84-year-old San Francisco, California, native has amassed an enormous collection of bones. He showed them off in the latest installment of the National Geographic TV show called Taboo.
Bandar has estimated that he holds over 7,000 skulls, 200 pelvises and a host of other limbs of animals he mostly cleansed by himself. He reportedly uses bacteria, worms and beetles that eat meat to clear the meat bones and other matter.
"I like to remove the meat from the skull and unravel the jaws,” Bandar said. "I see nothing gross about this, if it is an animal or decaying animal flesh, it makes no difference to me.”
Ray has all the legal permits for his quirky hobby and even uses his decades of knowledge and experience to help with a variety of scientific topics.
