A U.S. teen was arrested and charged for wearing a joker mask in public, according to police reports.
The man aged 17, was arrested by Boulder, Colorado, police Sunday night, after wearing a clown hat and Joker mask inside a movie theater.
According to police they arrested the suspect on suspicion of menacing.
He told police he was aware of the Aurora shooting that occurred during the summer, in which a gunman opened fire during the screening of Batman. He also told police he was wearing the mask as a joke to scare
He was reportedly found wearing the mask and the hat was in a shopping bag when police approached him.
Although no weapons were found, five people fled the theater and told police they feared for their safety.
The suspect faces five counts of misdemeanor menacing. He was taken to juvenile prison.
