Two young lives were left shattered after one teenage mother poisoned the baby of another teen mom. They are both under 17 years old. Both teenage mothers live at a group home together.

The teen mom allegedly added cleaning products to the formula in a bottle of another teen’s baby.

The group home in Newburyport, Massachusetts, helps young teens when they get pregnant and after they give birth the moms continue to live at the home where they get the support they need as teen moms.

Thomas Howard of the Newburyport Police Department said: "It is alleged that a juvenile female with a small child who was in the establishment, had taken a substance and added it to the formula of another female’s child."

The sick child was rushed to Anna Jaques Hospital where he was treated and later released, but when police got to the home, the crime suspect they were seeking was nowhere to be found.

The teen mom, who is suspected of the crime, had been in the house for less than a year. Police said they have a few motives for the crime, but will not talk about them at this time.

The Department of Children and Families is also investigating the incident. The teenage mother was found after she ran away from the home, she is being held without bail.

The teenage suspect was arrested in Cambridge, and is expected to appear in juvenile court next week.
