A man had his stolen wallet returned after an armed robber recognized him as a fellow inmate from prison, according to reports.

The victim was identified as a 51-year-old man from Wichita, by police.

Wichita Police said the man was walking home from work on Wednesday night, when he was approached by two young men, one with a gun.

The gunman demanded the victim's wallet and cellphone. As the older man gave him his wallet, the second suspect realized they had spent time together in prison.

Police said that is when the robbery suspects stopped the robbery, as they returned the wallet and apologized before leaving the scene. No arrests had been made as of Thursday. The victim told police he did not think he could identify the robbers.
