(Scroll down for video) A family purchased an iPad from Walmart, but it turned out to be a fake.

The man bought the iPad from Walmart as a gift to his wife, but when she opened the gift she thought that her husband played a prank on her because the iPad was a fake and made of plastic. The iPad was nothing more than a piece of plastic with no ports or buttons that worked.

While buying a product at a deeply discounted price from a seller on the street one can expect to be scammed, but buying an iPad at Walmart for full price and finding it be a fake is shocking. That is exactly what happened to this family after shopping at the Walmart in South Florida.

“The last thing I expected after buying an iPad at the selling price of $480 was a worthless piece of plastic,” a family member said.

Emilio Pereda, who was at Walmart with his father-in-law at the time of the purchase, tried to contact the Walmart corporate office, but received no response. Later, a representative defended Walmart by saying that someone must have bought an iPad and then replaced it with a fake one by repackaging it so well that it looked factory sealed. Walmart has offered the family a new iPad or their money back.

Walmart has a good return policy where one can return a product with no questions asked. Therefore, someone might have cheated them by returning the fake iPad and got their money back while keeping the real one for free.
