A man killed his own son in order to collect his insurance cash, according to police reports.

Authorities said that the apparently accidental death of a New York man, who was crushed by a truck incident four years ago, was not an accident at all. His father has been accused of murdering him for the insurance money.

Karl Karlsen was being held without bail on Saturday, at the Seneca County Jail. He was arrested on Friday.
His 23-year-old son, Levi, died in November 2008, while repairing the truck on the family property in Romulus, about 55 miles southwest of Syracuse.

The death was ruled accidental. However, the Seneca County Sheriff's Office learned this March about a life insurance policy in the name of Levi Karlsen. The insurance policy was taken out just several days before his death, with his father as the sole beneficiary.
