Brooklyn New York man killed by limo he was traveling in

(Scroll down for video) A man was hit and killed as he got out of a limousine he was traveling in, according to press reports.

The man was traveling in a white Chrysler 300C limo. When the vehicle reached its destination in Brooklyn, New York, the driver stopped the limo at the corner of the street and the man stepped out of the car.

Viktor Avavayve, 53, walked around the back of the car to get to the sidewalk, but at the same time, the limo driver backed up, fatally hitting him.

The fatal accident happened at the corner of Bedford Avenue and Kings Highway at around 6:50 p.m.

According to a witness, the victim was riding in the limo and when he left the limo the driver was ready to take off. The driver accidentally put the car in reverse and accelerated, pinning the victim between the limo and another parked car.

Avavayve was taken by paramedics to Kings County Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Upon hearing the terrible news his wife was traumatized. She was also taken to the hospital for observation.

The limo driver appeared to be driving while intoxicated. The driver of the limo has been taken in for questioning, but has not been charged yet. Police say the investigation is ongoing.
