Yusra Khan, 17, and her mother Sadmani, 40, were shot by their neighbor after the girl told him not to urinate near their family home in New Delhi, India.

The teen is believed to have argued with the man, who lives in the same building, after opposing his urinating near the front door.

Delhi police commissioner Ajay Chaudhry said: "After the two were arguing the man headed back into his house. He said 'I'll see you' and then he returned to the girl's apartment with a gun where he shot the girl and her mother. The girl died and her mother was critically injured."

The man who is believed to have fled through the narrow streets of the neighborhood in the
Nizamuddin district of the city, was firing shots in the air as he ran.

The suspect is still at large. "He is somewhere out there and we'll catch him," Chaudhry said.

Yusra’s father said his daughter died instantly while his wife continues to battle for her life.

Commissioner of Police, Chaudhry, said that officials had not found evidence of any other dispute between the shooter and the girl's family.
