A worker who was submerged in water up to his nose, received no help as hundreds of people just passed by him, according to press reports.

There are times at work when workers have to get their hands dirty. However, this worker in Caracas, Venezuela, went beyond the call of duty to repair a broken water pipe.

He stood up to his nose in water as he set out to work to solve the problem on a street in the Venezuelan capital as traffic went by near his head.

At one point, a police officer stopped traffic on his bicycle to look down on the unfortunate worker, but offered no help. “A few hundred people passed by while I was submerged up to my nose in water and no one offered me any help,” the unidentified worker said.

Caracas, which has a population of six million people, is struggling with its infrastructure and lost more than 50 percent of its drinking water because of poor pipe connections.

As this picture shows, which was taken recently, the problem seems to be only getting worse.
