(Scroll down for video) A woman divorced her husband after she caught him cheating on her.

After the divorce the husband decided to ruin her life so she won’t be able to marry another man.

Eight days after their divorce was final and while she was cooking at home in Bangladesh, a motorcycle stopped in front of her and splashed her with acid, leaving her blind and disfigured. The man behind the attack was her former husband.

This woman's horrible scars serve as a permanent reminder of her husband’s cruelty. The couple had been married for 18 years and they have children together.

After the attack, Nurbanu’s former husband went into hiding. Police did not give up looking for him. He was captured ten months after the attack and was jailed for a year, according to reports.

After being in jail for one year, the former husband’s mother forced the victim to sign an affidavit giving permission for his release from prison.

"She made me sign an affidavit for his release. She used my children to convince me to marry him again,” 36-year-old Nurbanu, said. She now has to endure living with the person who ruined her life.

"People might think that a husband would take care of his blind wife, but this did not happen," Nurbanu said. Her husband beats and abuses her every day.

Nurbanu cannot even cook a meal for herself, she has her young daughter cook for her. Sadly, this is a common thing in Bangladesh. Nurbanu is one of the thousands of women who are victims of acid attacks.
