A disheveled and handcuffed Barbara, 67, acting as his own lawyer, pleaded not guilty to charges that he threatened a press conference and make public the photos and details of his former wife Leslie, alleged sexual affairs, prosecutors said.
"I happen to be with Christ. I am a religious person," Barbara, a born-again Christian, said outside a court after a judge released him without bail.
"I forgive her. I want all this to go away and be over," Barbara, who faces a year in prison if convicted on charges of theft, harassment and stalking, said.
Phone calls and text messages lasted from March to September, according to court documents. Barbara increased his demand to $200,000 - according to authorities.
Barbara told Leslie, whom he married and divorced twice, that he had photographic evidence that she was having an intimate relationship with his boss at his law firm, and threatened to send those photos to the man's wife, authorities said.
