Smugglers have found a new creative way to smuggle drugs into the U.S. from Mexico, according to border officials.

Just when you thought drug running could not become more extreme, the U.S. Border Patrol officers found 33 cans of marijuana in the desert near the border with Mexico. They believe that the drugs were fired from a cannon inside Mexico.

Authorities learned of the new technique when they received reports of some strange boats appearing near the Colorado River in southern Arizona. Officers arrived at the scene to find the cans that collectively held 85 pounds of marijuana.

That's worth $42,500 on the street. Apparently, the smugglers had loaded the cans in a powered cannon and shot it more than 500 meters from the border. Apparently, none of their teammates came to pick up the cans before the police arrived at the scene.
