(Scroll down for video) China is mourning its latest school violence that left 22 children seriously wounded, according to reports.
Twenty two primary school children were injured in a knife attack last week, in central China, authorities said.
The attack took place at the entrance of the village primary school in the Chenpeng Henan Province, according to public information of Guangshan County, the area where the school is located. An adult was also injured, officials said.
Several of the children are in critical condition, the state website said. Police said they arrested a suspect, a 36-year-old man from the village.
Initial assessments indicate that the man is mentally ill. China was hit by a series of knife and ax attacks against schoolchildren.
A series of measures were introduced, including increased security at schools across the country and a regulation requiring people to register with their national ID card in order to buy large knives.
