A Church has caused uproar after it posted a large poster claiming that Jesus was possibly gay, according to photos uploaded to the Internet.

It is the time of the year again for good tidings and forgiveness. Many Christians living in Auckland, New Zealand, are struggling to find the good will in their hearts for the latest in a series of controversial billboards put up by the church of St. Matthew in the Cit.

"Time for Jesus to come out," the poster proclaims, with an image of Jesus as a child in a manger, surrounded by a halo of rainbow. The term “coming out” in commonly used for gay people revealing that their are gay.

The poster was made by the Rev. Glynn Cardy, who said it was meant to "lift" the humanity of Jesus. It is likely to face the same fate as last year's controversial poster, which was pulled down by angry locals.

The message, while presented in a controversial manner, is to ask if Christians would change their faith if they learned that Jesus was gay.

The reverend notes that there is no indication about the sexuality of Jesus: "The fact is we do not know what his sexual orientation was,” he said.
