An angry landlord shot and killed his two young tenants while injuring another, according to police reports in Maine.
The homeowner is facing murder charges today, the day after he allegedly shot the two young tenants to death and a wounded one of his tenants’ mother, police said.
The shooting occurred Saturday night, just minutes after police left the Biddeford residence where they had been called to intervene in a dispute over cars that were parked in the driveway during a snowstorm.
James Pak, 74, was arrested around 10:00 p.m., after about three hours of standoff negotiations. He is charged with two counts of murder and was being held in the York County Jail in Alfred.
Killed in the shooting Saturday night were Derrick Thompson, 19, and his girlfriend, Alivia Welch, 18, the State Police said. Thompson's mother, Susan Johnson, 44, was hospitalized in stable condition with a gunshot wound.
Her 7-year-old son Brayden Johnson, was unhurt. The shooter’s wife, Armit, was also uninjured. Police said that a firearm was used in the shooting.
Pak seemed to have no criminal record in Maine, but several neighbors said he was known for his temper.
