Authorities said that the suspect entered the restaurant in Orlando, tried to grab money from the customer's hand and then stabbed him several times with a butcher knife.
Jerry Tyson was charged with second-degree murder and robbery after police said that he entered McDonald’s in Orlando on Tuesday night, and tried to steal money from the victim, who was reportedly in a wheelchair.
Tyson allegedly fled the restaurant, threw away the knife and ran into some nearby woods. A witness tried to stop Tyson and chased him with his car, but was unsuccessful. A K-9 dog tracked Tyson down in the woods and found him hiding under a tree. The dog bit the leg of Tyson.
The victim, who was not identified, was rushed to a hospital where he later died from the knife wounds.
"We are cooperating fully with authorities in their investigation of the matter and we ask that you forward all questions to the Orlando Police Department," a McDonald’s spokesperson said in a statement.
