A nude, burned dead woman was found this morning on a Brooklyn, New York, beach, the New York Police Department announced.
Police are trying to identify the burned remains of the female nude body found in the Marine Park section of Brooklyn.
A 911 caller reported the discovery of the woman's body in the nature reserve near Gerritsen and Lois avenues around 7:15 a.m., police said.
Emergency workers found the victim in a sandy area surrounded by dense vegetation at the border of Marine Park and Gerritsen beaches.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Investigators found no identification on or near the woman, whose body was near the water and near a trail through dense vegetation, sources said.
The coroner did not determine the cause of death.
Police who are investigating, said that foul play is suspected in her death. Body parts of the victim were burned, but no other obvious signs of trauma were found and it seemed that she had died some time ago.
