A man who drank too much in Brooklyn, New York, was hit by three separate drivers.
All fled the scene and left the poor man bleeding on the street, New York City Police Department police officers said in a statement.
The drunken pedestrian was hit by three vehicles early yesterday, and was left bleeding in the street after all of the heartless drivers fled the scene, a witness and police said.
The victim, who was identified as a 24-year-old man, was crossing Nostrand Avenue and Beverley Street in East Flatbush about 12:55 a.m., when the mirror of a Ford slapped him in his face, according to police.
Seconds later, a black car ran over him and left followed by a white van, which also left before police arrived.
The driver of the van even came out, looked at the fallen pedestrian and left quietly after returning to his vehicle.
"Everyone told the driver to stay and wait for the police, but he left just" Ravi Hunter, 42, said. "That could be me. The man was left like garbage on the street, like dirt. If he was drinking or not, he should not be run over like an animal," he said.
The witness said there was a loud popping sound as the second car, which seemed to do the most damage, fled the scene.
The victim did not have the right of way and seemed to be in a sleep walk.
"He was moaning and doing a bit of conversation," Hunter said. "I did not know what he was saying, but I could smell the alcohol on his breath," he added.
"I do not think the driver knew that it was a man in the street. Maybe he thought it was a bag," Hunter said. "It was just devastating to see that," he said.
